How Designer Redesign Themselves

Designers should always have the ability to reinvent his/her own identity. As a reconcile agent, meaning creator and messenger between the nearly impossible contradiction of the profit chasing capitalist, industrial manufacturing, technology and diversified taste of consumer, designers have proved themselves as a versatile instrument to glue the unconnected. However, whist designing their own career and identity, a macro comprehension about the social-cultural context is sometimes neglected, which is critical to the evolution of a designer. As the glorious achievements of a designer is sometimes more like a burden, jettisoning the past needs great courage as well as the ability to apprehend his/her situation beyond industry, consumption and culture, namely social, economic and political context. Only with this understanding, can a designer incessantly recreate him/herself to stand in the frontier of the battlefield of design.
